Australian DIMEBAG Tribute Album To Surface In August
May 7, 200614 Australian bands have joined forces to pay tribute to late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott in the form of "The Art of Shredding - A Tribute to Dime" CD. DarkStar Records plans to release this album on August 20, 2006 to celebrate what would have been Dime's 40th birthday. A percentage of the profits from the sale of this CD will be donated to the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund to help the families of those who are still suffering after the events of December 8, 2004.
"The Art of Shredding" will contain 14 songs — 13 classic PANTERA tunes and an original Dime tribute song by Sydney thrash band MURDERWORLD. The complete lineup is as follows:
DAYSEND - I'm Broken
SWITCHBLADE - Domination
LORD - Shattered
IMMINENT PSYCHOSIS - The Art of Shredding
MALIGNANT MONSTER - Fucking Hostile
ENFORCE - By Demons Be Driven
PLAGUE - Living Through Me (Hell's Wrath)
MCDOUGALL BROTHERS - War Nerve
AETURNUS DOMINION - Mouth For War
BLACK STEEL - Heavy Metal Rules
THE DEADTHINGS - Proud to be Loud
SYNTHETIC BREED - Becoming
TRANSCENDING MORTALITY - Cemetery Gates
MURDERWORLD - Soul Inside Me
As the bands get to work on their tracks for the CD, the hunt is on for talented artists to contribute to the album. The front cover is being designed by Brisbane artist Andrew Saltmarsh, but DarkStar is looking for respectful, Dime-inspired art for the booklet, tray and the CD itself. Artists and designers are invited to submit their designs, which will go in the running to be selected as the final artwork for the CD.
